# Voice Messages

> How to set up and configure voice for your AI character — voice styles, costs, and fan experience

Voice messages let your AI character speak to fans in a distinct voice. It's one of the highest-engagement features on the platform — characters with voice enabled see significantly longer session times.

## How voice works

When voice is enabled, fans can request voice messages during a chat session. The AI generates a voice clip using your character's personality, communication style, and voice configuration.

| Detail           | Value                                                         |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Cost to fans** | 3 OVIBE per voice message |
| **Revenue type** | Platform service (fans pay directly) |

  </Step>

  </Step>
</Steps>

## Voice style

The voice style field tells the AI how your character should sound. Be specific about tone, pace, and texture.

**Examples:**

| Character Type     | Voice Style                                                          |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Romantic partner | "Soft, breathy, slightly raspy — like she's whispering just for you" |
| Dominant character | "Deep and commanding with a hint of warmth" |
| Bubbly anime girl | "Bright and bubbly, laughs easily, high energy" |
| Mysterious figure | "Low and slow, like they're always in control" |
| Caring best friend | "Warm, natural, relaxed — like a late-night phone call" |

<Tip>
  The voice style field also subtly influences your character's text personality. A "breathy, intimate" voice style will make text responses feel slightly more intimate too.
</Tip>

## Fan experience

From the fan's perspective:

1. During a chat, they tap the **voice** icon on a message
2. The AI generates a voice clip of that message in your character's voice
3. The fan pays 3 OVIBE and receives the audio clip
4. They can replay the clip anytime in the conversation

Fans can also request original voice messages by asking the character to "say something" or "tell me something sweet" — the AI generates both the text and the voice.

## Voice and profile completeness

Voice is one of the factors in the [discover algorithm](/ai/publishing). Characters with voice enabled rank higher in profile completeness, which influences discoverability.

| Profile Factor      | Impact     |
| ------------------- | ---------- |
| Avatar              | High       |
| Backstory           | High       |
| Tags (10/10)        | Medium     |
| Communication style | Medium     |
| **Voice enabled**   | **Medium** |

    A gentle, caring character should not have an aggressive voice. Consistency between personality traits and voice style keeps the experience immersive.

  <Card title="Be specific" icon="sliders">
    "Nice voice" tells the AI nothing. "Warm alto with a slight Southern drawl, speaks slowly" gives it everything it needs.
