# AI-Assisted DMs

> Set up your AI assistant to respond to fans in your voice — personality prompts, visibility toggle, and how it works

You can't be online 24/7, but your fans expect a reply. AI-assisted DMs let an AI respond to fan messages in your voice and personality while you're away. You stay in control of the tone, and fans stay engaged.

## How it works

    A subscriber or fan sends you a direct message through onlyvibe.

    If you're offline (or if auto-reply is always on), the AI assistant reads the incoming message and generates a response using your personality prompt.

    The response is sent from your profile. Depending on your visibility setting, it may or may not show an "AI" indicator.

  <Step title="You review when you're back">
    All AI-sent messages are visible in your DM inbox. You can jump into any conversation at any time and take over.

## Setting up your AI assistant

Navigate to **Creator Dashboard > AI Assistant** to configure.

### Personality prompt

The personality prompt tells the AI how to sound like you. This is the most important setting — it directly controls the quality and authenticity of AI responses.

**What to include:**

| Element               | Example                                                  |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| Tone                  | "Casual, warm, and a little flirty"                      |
| Language style        | "Short messages, uses emojis, never formal"              |
| Topics to engage with | "Talk about fitness, travel, and my daily life"          |
| Boundaries            | "Never discuss politics or religion"                     |
| Signature phrases     | "I always say 'babe' and end messages with a kiss emoji" |

**Example personality prompts:**

> Respond like me — casual, fun, and flirty. I use a lot of emojis (especially fire and heart eyes). Keep messages short (1-3 sentences). I love talking about my workouts, travel plans, and daily life. I'm playful and tease subscribers a little but never mean. If someone asks for custom content, tell them to check my tip menu.

> I'm chill and laid-back. I type in lowercase most of the time. I'm into music, gaming, and late-night conversations. I'm sarcastic but sweet underneath. Don't be too eager — play it cool but show genuine interest. If asked about meetups, politely decline.

  The AI follows your prompt literally. If you don't set boundaries, it won't have any. Be specific about topics to avoid and behavior to never exhibit.

### Visibility toggle

Choose how AI messages are labeled:

  Most successful creators use **hidden** mode. Fans engage more naturally when they believe they're talking to the creator directly. Just make sure your personality prompt is accurate enough that responses feel authentic.

### Enabling and disabling

* **Toggle on** — AI responds to all incoming DMs when you haven't replied within a configurable window
* **Toggle off** — all DMs wait for your manual response
* You can switch between modes at any time from the dashboard

## What the AI can and cannot do

### It can

* Respond to casual conversation in your voice
* Answer questions about your content and posting schedule
* Direct fans to your tip menu or subscription page
* Maintain a consistent personality across conversations
* Handle multiple concurrent conversations

### It cannot

* Send photos or media on your behalf
* Accept payments or process tip menu purchases
* Access your personal information beyond what's in the personality prompt
* Respond to flagged or reported conversations

## DM earnings

DM messages are free for fans — there's no per-message cost. Fans can also use AI services (image/video generation) within DMs, which they pay for as platform services.

Your earnings come from subscriptions, tips, and content unlocks — where you keep **80%** of everything.

## Best practices

1. **Write a detailed personality prompt** — the more specific, the more authentic the AI sounds
2. **Review AI conversations regularly** — jump into threads where the AI's responses could be improved and take over
3. **Update your prompt over time** — as your style evolves, update the prompt to match
4. **Set clear boundaries** — specify what the AI should never discuss or promise
5. **Use the tip menu redirect** — tell the AI to direct fans to your tip menu when they ask for custom content
